Warangal was the capital of the Kakatiya dynasty (12th-14th century) and is the second-largest city in Telangana. The city is known for the Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, Ramappa Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site), and Pakhal Lake. It was recently merged with Hanamkonda and Kazipet to form the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation.
